Day 1 Take Control of Your Life. Write Your Own Story!
We’re starting off Season 2 with a week of empowerment. We’re exploring how we define our own lives and how we can redefine them and rewrite our own stories if we choose to. We cannot change our pasts and we may not be able to control the things that happen around us and sometimes to us but we can control how we respond. Stephen Covey author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, refers to this as response ability (two words) – the ability to respond or to take responsibility for ourselves. Whether our difficulties are a result of our own choices or some unfortunate circumstances we couldn’t avoid because of our age, strength, condition or other factor, we still have response ability. We get to write or rewrite our own stories and design your own lives from the perspective of our values and since of worth as a Child of God. So what can we do today to begin to take control of our own story – to create the life we want. That is what we are exploring this week.
Just remember. We cannot control the weather, or the heart or actions of others but we can change how we see them and how we respond to them or the consequences of their actions.
Wednesday, we’ll share our first interview of the season. Monique Moiliere Piper, author of Dance in the Sun shares her incredible story of loss and grief growing up in a dangerous area to becoming the first in her family to finish high school and later college, become a published author, and earn the nickname Thrive specialist. She shares her formula and definition of success and she talks about the story she chooses to tell herself.
Tomorrow I’m going to share with you how I allowed a childhood trauma to keep me in fear, even terror at times and how I’m rewriting my story to focus on my miraculous survival and God’s constant loving and empowering presence in my life.
